Lumius
A pre-seed Duke spinout out of Y Combinator’s Spring 2026 batch. Aggregators put around $500,000 raised. No SEC Form D for the company turned up in this research, so almost everything below rests on the company, an accelerator update, and one backer’s own account of why it invested.
Data as of September 25, 2026. Company and investor reported figures are labeled.

What the filings show
Nothing. No Form D notice for “Lumius,” “Lumius Imaging,” or “Lumius Imaging, Inc.” was found through SEC EDGAR company and full text search for this profile. That is not unusual for a company this early: a seed round built from an accelerator check plus a handful of angel and micro-VC investors can close under $5 million in ways that trigger a Form D only later, or the company may be relying on an exemption, a delayed filing, or a filer name that does not match the brand. Lumius Imaging, Inc. does appear in federal contractor registries (CAGE code 114D5, self-certified small disadvantaged business), but that registry shows no contract or award history, which is consistent with the absence of a direct NIH or NSF award to the company found elsewhere in this research.
Reading the public numbers
- Two aggregators, one number, no source shown.Tracxn and Dealroom both list $500,000 in total Lumius funding as of mid to late 2026, but neither publishes a filing, press release, or press report backing that figure, and the two platforms’ own detail tables show inconsistent or placeholder line items underneath the headline number.
- The investor list is one sided. The only place all five backers, Y Combinator, FundersClub, Boost VC, Robinhood Ventures, and Vento Ventures, are named together is a June 2026 blog post from 007 Venture Partners announcing that it, too, had invested. No press release, Form D, or second outlet corroborates that investor list independently.
- Duke says the round was still open in June 2026.The university’s own innovation center wrote that the founders were “currently raising their seed round” as of June 29, 2026, the same month the investor blog post describes money already committed. Read together, the round looks like it closed in pieces rather than as one announced event, which is typical for pre-seed rounds but makes the true total hard to pin down from outside.
- The non-dilutive funding claim is single sourced.007 Venture Partners cites “$370K in non-dilutive ARPA-H subcontract funding,” which would explain why no direct NIH or NSF SBIR award shows up under the company’s name, ARPA-H work is often passed through a prime contractor rather than awarded straight to a small subcontractor. This research found no independent confirmation of that subcontract.
- Letters of intent are not revenue. The same investor post cites “$5.7M in signed LOIs” from unnamed customers in surgical robotics and medical devices. A letter of intent is a non-binding expression of interest, not a purchase order or a contract, and none of the counterparties are named.

What to watch
- A first Form D for Lumius Imaging, Inc. or a related SPV, which would confirm round size and investor identity independently.
- Whether the ARPA-H subcontract and LOI figures surface anywhere outside the single investor blog post.
- A named lead investor and a closing date for the seed round.
- Whether the Q3 2026 FDA pre-submission meeting an investor described actually happens on that timeline.
