Reading the filings

  1. Nine tenths of the money came from taxpayers.Documented capital is $178,700 plus $1,193,494 plus $120,000, or $1,492,194. The two NSF awards are $1,372,194 of that, about 92 percent. Most companies in this sector show the reverse ratio.
  2. The missing Form D is the finding. Two EDGAR searches on September 23, 2026, one full text and one by company name, returned nothing at all. In sixteen years the company has never filed a Regulation D notice, and no fund or SPV filing names it. A priced venture round is hard to do without leaving that trace.
  3. One database total, and it matches the accelerator check.Tracxn puts lifetime funding at $120,000, the same figure VentureBeat reported for the Y Combinator investment in March 2018. If any later equity had been raised and reported, that total would have moved. The same page lists Capital Factory as a July 2015 investor, which no filing or release confirms.
  4. The customer economics were small. At Y Combinator demo day the company reported $50,000 of revenue for 2017 from ten paying customers, about $5,000 each, plus $500,000 in letters of intent, ten times the realized revenue. Those are project fees, not platform licences, and they explain how a business this old stayed unfunded.
  5. The grant engine switched off in 2020.Phase II ended August 31, 2020. NIH RePORTER shows no project and USAspending shows no federal contract, so nothing replaced it. For a company whose largest backer was the NSF, six years without a federal award is the most concrete negative signal in the record.

What to watch

  • A first Form D. It would be the first securities filing in the company history.
  • A new SBIR or STTR award, which would restart the only funding line that ever scaled here.
  • A named customer, a licensed molecule, or a design that shows up in a partner pipeline.
  • Whether the two person leadership page is a lean services model or the end of one.

Compiled from SEC, NSF, NIH and USAspending public records and published reports as of September 22, 2026. Form D notices report offerings under Regulation D; an issuer that raises under another exemption files none, so the absence of a filing is evidence about disclosure rather than proof about capital. Healthcare Venture Capital Fund holds no position in Macromoltek. This page is not an offer to sell or a recommendation to buy any security.
